Rift: Nailing Those Bags Down

If you are having trouble with your bags floating all over your screen, Detill5869 explains how to lock them into position.  Basically, open the Settings Tab and then hit Edit Layout.  Move your bags to where you want them to be, then save the layout.  When you return to the game the bags seem to stay put.  (However, it looks as if the bags start floating again if you log out of the character.)  Many thanks to Detill5869 for telling us how to fix this minor irritation.

Rifts: Bags

Bags in Rift come in various sizes, with the largest bag having 22 slots (unless you bought your game via Steam and got a copy of the 24 slot Collector's Satchel).  Here's the best source of information about which bags hold how much, sorted as to whether they are drops, craftable, whether there is a recipe for making it, etc.

Each profession has four skill levels--Novice (1-75?), Skilled (75-150?), Expert (150-225?), and Master (225-300?).

Levels at which you can craft bags (from the forums--note I've not been able to confirm this information):
"Silken Bag is trained at level 180, and is 14 slots. Spellspun Bag is trained at Outfitter level 280, and is 18 slots. The pattern for Witchweave Bags can be bought from the Outfitter recipe vendor for 318 Artisan Marks, which should take about a week, possibly less, to get, and requires Outfitter 265. And finally there's Spiritweave Bags, epic quality 22-slot bags. The pattern is bought for 4 Outfitter Plaques, which I'm guessing are rewarded for Master rank daily profession quests."

Bag Management

One of the things that causes a lot of trouble in any MMO is inventory management.  In WOW, this means managing the bags that you use to carry items.  If you are new to the game, you'll want to look at this WOW Insider column about bag management.

If you are a more advanced player, NoobDing may have tips that will help you.

Spellchecker has an article about bags that repeat much of the above but that also mentions the addon GarbageFu which he recommends for inventory management.

UPDATE:  WOW Insider reviews several bag management addons.

Butler Aids Engineers with Limited Bag Space

One thing you never have enough of in WOW is bag space.  If you are a 450 level engineer, you might be interested in making Jeeves, the robotic butler that repairs items and grants access to the bank.

Darth Solo talks you through the complicated process, which I assumed meant you had a butler to carry items around for you.  However, it looks like Jeeves opens bank access.

There are a few more details about how Jeeves works here under item 4, but this was written before the robot was tweeked in Patch 3.2 Call of the Crusade.  Therefore, it might not all be totally correct.  You may be also interested in MOLL-EE the robot that creates a portable mailbox for ten minutes or Scrapbot that fixes things.  These robots are also mentioned in this section of the article.
