You can't play WOW without using addons, but Blizzard is totally indifferent to them, so when they issue a patch, players spend hours trying to update their addons and trying to get by without addons whose developers don't get them updated to map to the newest patch quickly. This article talks about a macro to help you identify which addon you have up on your screen. I suppose knowing which addons you are using in a situation will help you figure out which ones you need to update. I guess.

Patch 3.3.3 Changes UPDATED
UPDATE #2: WOW Insider is keeping a list of expected changes to the game from Patch 3.3.3 and updating it as more information comes out.

Blizzard is announcing upcoming changes to the game thick and fast. Patch 3.3.3 has a public test realm that is up and running now, or about to be. I think the link below is where you access the PTR (public test realm).

Here is what to expect from it. Note that the random Battleground system is included in this patch. You can't use this unless you are wearing a Level 80 character.
