Cartographer And Its Replacements (Addons)
Because I get so many visitors here looking for information about Cartographer, I am summarizing the information I was able to find in one posting. First of all, as of Patch 3.3.3, Cartographer no longer works properly and the developers don't have any plans to fix the problem due to the amount of work involved.
Some folks just disable part of Cartographer. Details here.

No Stock UI has come up with several replacements (Mapster, Cromulent, Atlas, MapNotes, and TomTom). Remember, we are at Patch 3.3.5 now, so I can't say whether all this information is still current.

Someone says they have written a custom version of Cartographer that works only with Patch 3.3.5a which is the current version of WOW (July 2010). Here's the download. The article also mentions disabling "waypoints" and "Look N Feel" in the character account/addons management area. Be cautious before you try this, however. I can't vouch for how well it works.

Finally, this link describes a sound problem when using Cartographer and Zygors together. Updating Cartographer fixed the issue, although there isn't a new version of this. Perhaps the person with the problem was using a very old version.
