Is This What Happened to Gaming?

I used to read the Greedy Goblin's blog religiously, not because I played World of Warcraft (I don't), but because he was always interesting.  This morning I clicked on a link to one of his old articles and discovered he has a new blog.  This was the last posting at the new place, dated February 2019.

Food for thought....

The Heir to the Greedy Goblin

Long-time World of Warcraft players will remember the Greedy Goblin.  Apparently the mantle of auction-house millionaire has passed to the Lazy Goldmaker.

The Greedy Goblin Invents the Wintergrasp Battleground-Kick Addon

Blessings of Kings talks about the Greedy Goblin's latest idea, an addon that kicks folks from Battlegrounds if they aren't contributing.  This works something like the way the raid-kick feature works in dungeon finder and as far as I know, it is for Wintergrasp only.

A Guide for the New Level 80

Gevlon discovered a new guild member hadn't a clue about how to play his new Level 80 character, so he wrote a general guide.  Very helpful information from the Greedy Goblin!  I'd ignore the paying gold for helpful advice, though.  Goblins think like that but why pay when you can research things on this site (and others) for free?  Google is your friend, goblins are not.

Interview with The Greedy Goblin (Undergeared Guild)

Frosthelm interviews the Greedy Goblin about his Undergeared guild, set up to prove that it is skill, not gear, that takes down bosses. Undergeared runs instances in blue gear only and are about 3/4 of the way through ICC.

The Greedy Goblin Discovers a Bot

He immediately reported it and since nothing has happened to the "player" in 48 hours, assumes that Blizzard supports boting.

The Greedy Goblin Goes Solo

The Greedy Goblin, bored with his adventures in making gold, is turning to another interest of his--running low level instances with low level characters either solo or just with his girlfriend.  Gevlon was part of the team that ran Ulduar in blue gear recently.  Here's his first report on his solo and duo runs.

Part two--why warlocks are more solo fun than priests.

Tobold just posted a long message on his blog about challenges in game and why MMORPGs frown on tackling instances without first researching what is likely to happen.
http://tobolds.blogspot.com/2009/11/destroying-challenge.html

I suspect long-time players will need to try playing the game differently to keep up their interest.  Why not try an instance without knowing what will happen? Why not try a solo run?  Why not try coming up with a different strategy than the usual recommended one for your next raid?  Just see what happens....

By the way, the Solo MMO Player would like to run an instance solo without any weapons.  Armor, yes; but not even a knife.
