I've been mostly ignoring Cataclysm beta information since it is all in flux. Who knows what will actually make it into the next expansion? This is a reference site, after all, and linking to information that may or may not end up in an expansion that isn't even dated yet seems useless to me. However, I have found a few articles I do want to mention because they are useful for beta players or have special relevance to solo players.
WOWHead has posted how to use their client to gather beta information for their database. If you are in the beta, consider downloading their client to add to the Cataclysm database.

It looks like buying a faster flying mount will be quite expensive in Cataclysm, especially for players with a good number of characters they play. Looks like players should start accumulating gold now.

Cold Weather Flying changes in Cataclysm. Now you can buy it at Level 68 for less than in Patch 3.3.5.

The Warcraft Hunters Union has posted two articles about soloing Cataclysm, first as a Beast Master hunter--

and secondly as a marksman hunter.

Main Versus Alts
The Solo MMO Player doesn't have a main and alts. Instead he has characters he plays in various situations. Lissana is noticing that the main versus alts language just doesn't cut it anymore in WOW. She talks about generalist and specialist players instead.

What's your play style and what language describes it? (This is my Whiny post for Whiny Post Day, in case you hadn't guessed.)

Keybinding Across Alts
If you play several alts, you've run into the same problem Bear Flank has. You'll find yourself trying to use the wrong spell or whatever because you temporarily forgot which character you are playing. Here's how Sarah worked out a common action bar layout for all her characters.

Key Binding for Multiple Healer Alts
Miss Medicina talks about how she organizes her key bindings for the multiple healers she plays so she doesn't get too confused when switching among her characters. The Comments section has other interesting organizational ideas.

Heirloom Gear For Alts Once You Hit Level 80
WOW Insider explains how heirloom gear works. Basically, these are gear items that a Level 80 can buy for a lower level alt which level with the alt. This is a very good deal as these items never need repair but there are limits on the enchantments one can use. Read all the details here.
