The Elitest Armory is Dead UPDATED

The Solo MMO Player is sad to say that the Elitest Armory is dead.  With Cataclysm coming up, everything would have to be redone and Shadow doesn't plan to play the expansion.
http://elitistarmory.com/

It was a terrific site which the Solo MMO Player hates to say goodbye to.  I'l leave the link in Favorite Links for a while in case someone new takes on the responsibility of rebuilding this for Cataclysm.

UPDATE:  This site is supposed to do basically the same thing but the Solo MMO Player says it is clunkier to use.

Hunter Gems and Enchants

Garwulf has posted two articles, one on hunter gems and the other on enchants for hunters.  The enchants link is first.

Level 80 Mage Basics

A bit about how a mage works at level 80, with recommended enchants, heirlooms, etc.  This article is notable for a paragraph or two with tips for solo mages.  I should point out the author plays a Holy Paladin mostly, although he runs alts.

The Feral Druid Bear Guide (Patch 3.3)

WOW Insider continues its series on current class information with a profile of the feral druid bears.  This covers the advantages and disadvantages of playing a feral bear, has information on talents and stats, heirlooms, gear, enchants, and glyphs you need as a high level bear, and covers spell rotations/casting sequences.

There's a link to a video that shows the feral druid bear casting sequence in action.  I've included this below.

DK Tank's Guide to Enchants and Gems

WOWhead has a short list of enchants and gems a Level 80 death knight tank needs to run raids and Heroics.  NOTE:  This was done for Patch 3.2.2, folks.  It probably doesn't work now that we are at the pre-Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1.

All About Enchanting

HOW ENCHANTING WORKS
Enchantment as a profession seems to be very important for the higher level player as they attempt to improve their gear.  Any solo player will have a special interest in this area as they don't have a guild to help with gear (assuming there is such a thing; the Solo MMO Player is very skeptical about the utility of guilds on his realm) and find it hard to raid on their own.  I thought about quoting sections from these three websites to explain how enchanting and dis-enchanting works but I think it better if you just read up yourself and take what you need from these places.

WOW Wiki seems to have the clearest explanation of enchantments and how they work.
Blizzard has a very good explanation of dis-enchanting and excellent tips at the bottom of the page.
WOW Enchants is a website set up for enchanters.  There is an enchanting costs page, and sections on the various items that may be enchanted but the home page gives you good information about profiting from enchanting.  I am not sure how up-to-date this site is, however.
LEVELING ENCHANTING
Here's a compact guide to leveling enchanting.  Again, I don't know how up-to-date this is.

DATABASES FOR ENCHANTING INFORMATION
Besides the general databases on enchanting that WOWHead and WOW Wiki have, I've found several specialty databases for enchantment information.  Take a look and see which you find useful, then bookmark for later reference.

Of all the enchantment databases, Chordian has the most information in the smallest amount of space, including where to find the enchantment, sorted by what type of item the enchant works on.  To switch to another type of gear, click on one of the items at the top of the page right under the header. (The default tab is weapons.)  Note that you can customize this database but I don't know how well this works. I've added this one to the Favorite Links section.

Allakhazam lists the enchantments sorted by the six levels in the profession.  Just click on the Apprentice tab and see what you can do.

This site lists the glows on various items which is probably important if you are a twink or are selling enchanted items.  Appearance is very important in certain circumstances.

Hope this helps the budding enchanters among us.

Enchantments Databases

Chordian has set up a lovely compact database of enchants which you can use to mark the enchantments you have personally.  The default home page is the weapons.  If you want to look at enchantments for boots or bracers, just click on that topic from the list right under the header line.

If you want to know what effects enchantments will put on an item, this is the website for you.
