I turned up quite a few solo run strategy articles this morning. First is Pike the Hunter's attempt to solo Attumen, the first boss in Karazhan, so she could get the Worgen Claw Necklace. She hasn't gotten through the instance yet, but she has tried some things and has other ideas outlined here.

WOW Alone has gotten through Blood Furnace (Burning Crusade) by himself as a Level 80. I haven't found a mention of what character he used for this but his main character is a hunter.

And he has heard from Celebrandil who has given the steps to soloing Zulgurub and recommends using a gorilla as a pet, which means Celebrandil must be a hunter.

Rummaging through WOW Alone's blog, I see two more instances he's run by himself and documented--Scholomance (as a Level 80 hunter) and

Hellfire Ramparts (also as a Level 80 hunter).
